Signal Corps - Cartes postales du Blâmontois - 1914-1918
 


Comme évoqué dans l’article US Signal Corps - Photographies - 1917-1918, l'United States Army Signal Corps est originellement un corps des transmissions créé en 1863, pour la gestion des systèmes d'information et de communication des forces armées.
Mais ce sont surtout ses opérateurs photo et ses caméramans qui vont documenter la première guerre mondiale, dans un double but : mémoriel (photos, vidéos...) et opérationnel (photos, cartes, vues aériennes...). Chaque photographie est ainsi indexée et documentée, mais la base de données considérable ainsi constituée va se compléter, pour les zones sous occupation allemande, de toute formes d’images, et principalement des cartes postales éditées par l’armée allemande (qui ne pratique pas la censure systématique utilisée par les Français).

On trouve ainsi dans ses fiches les cartes postales suivantes, déjà bien connues par les différentes copies publiées dans la rubrique « Cartes postales et photographies de l'ancien canton de Blâmont ».
